We we will be closed on New Year's, Labor Day, President's Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Christmas. If the holiday falls on a Saturday, we we will be closed on the Friday before the holiday. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, we will be closed on the following Monday.
We are accepting children between ages 2-5. They do not need to be potty trained, we will help you achieve this.
We use the HighScope's educational approach, which emphasizes "active participatory learning." Active learning means students have direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. Children's interests and choices are at the heart of HighScope programs. They construct their own knowledge through interactions with the world and the people around them. Children take the first step in the learning process by making choices and following through on their plans and decisions. Teachers, caregivers, and parents offer physical, emotional, and intellectual support. In active learning settings, adults expand children's thinking with diverse materials and nurturing interactions. Through scaffolding, adults help children gain knowledge and develop creative problem-solving skills.
Children must be secure and confident in what they already know before they are ready to move to the next level. When HighScope says, "adults support and extend children's learning", it means that the adults first validate, or support what children already know, and then, when the time is right, gently encourage them to extend their thinking to the next level.
HighScope curriculum is welcoming to children. It provides enough materials for all the children. Allows them to find, use, and return all the used materials independently. Encourages different types of play and learning. Allows children to see and easily move through all the areas of the classroom or center. Is flexible so children can extend their play by bringing materials from one area to another. It also provides materials that reflect the diversity of children's family lives. All of these features makes it a key component of successful preparation for kindergarten.
We have weekly schedules tailored to each age group. A weekly schedule will be provided for your child's program, which will include "Free-play" in which teachers actively participate with the children by asking questions about what the child is doing, participating in their pretend play, reading books when prompted, and encouraging children to try new activities or play with a new toy. This helps children to grown socially and cognitively.
Along with the regular curriculum, story time, and free play we also have outdoor play on our beautiful yard setting. Outdoor play is incorporated into the daily schedule. Our staff members acitvely engage in activities when prompted by the children. This gives the children an opportunity to run, jump, climb, and use their bodies in ways that would otherwise be unsafe in an indoor classroom. Playing outside also gives the kids a large amount of social interaction because they are engaged in fewer teacher-directed activities and more child-directed play.
We have a large grass play area with jungle climbing toys, swing sets, teeter totter, riding toys, and a picnic area as well. This area allows the kids to use thier creative imaginations during outside play and gives them a great deal of exercise, which is essential to proper development of all children.
At Kid'z College Rialto, we follow all nutritional guidelines established by the child and adult food program. Children will be encouraged to sample all the foods they are offered but will never be forced to eat.
We love to celebrate your child's special days along with them, so we do allow outside treats on these days. However, due to allergy concerns, we only allow staff pre-approved, store-bought food in the original packaging. Please note that we are a peanut free facility.
Lunch room
On occassion, when weather permits, we will be enjoying our lunches outside at our picnic area.
The California Department of Human Services requires that all children must be provided with a regularly scheduled nap or resting time. The children will not be forced to sleep but may be encouraged to lie quietly for a period. The length of time a child should have to remain resting varies by child. Children should be provided with alternative quiet activites if unable to rest.
Children must have a fitted sheet and blanket for nap / rest time and are encouraged to bring a familiar item from home to use during this time, such as a small blanket or stuffed animal. These items will be stored in your child's cubby box and should be labeled clearly with their name. All laundry will be sent home weekly to be washed.
